Spider Solitaire: instructions and practice
Use a short break to learn the rhythm of Spider Solitaire. Complete eight same-suit king-to-ace runs. Look at what changes after your first action. Use the opening round to become familiar with the layout. Check the relevant rule before repeating a move.
Two decks, one/two/four suits; fill every column before a ten-card stock deal. Free solo play, no wagering.
Practice with a purpose
When a decision goes wrong, compare it with the common mistake described below. Start again only when you intend to leave the current round. Refer to the controls when needed.
The purpose of your moves
Complete eight same-suit king-to-ace runs. Read that aim before choosing your first action. Notice how the game responds to your input.
The order of play
- Build down by rank. Only descending same-suit groups move together. Empty columns accept any movable group.
- Select a face-up card and then the destination pile or Empty slot.
- Use foundations where available; full Spider or Scorpion runs clear automatically.
- Undo reverses a choice. New deal shuffles again.
Using the playing area
Click or tap cards and piles. Wide tableaus scroll inside the game; use Undo, Hint and New deal where shown. Use the control method described here for this activity. A new-round button replaces the current round.
Work through an example
A mixed-suit descending stack cannot move as one group. Focus on why the action is allowed, not only its outcome. Keep the controls nearby.
An important reminder
Random deals are not guaranteed solvable. A hint is a legal move, not a winning strategy. Read the feedback to see why an action did not have the expected result. Watch the feedback after an action. A message can explain whether the input was accepted or whether a rule needs attention.
